Unit 1 - Weather
Students are responsible for observing and recording weather for a month. Students learn weather vocabulary and sentence patterns to express the weather.Students learn how to record, graph and analyze weather patterns in the process. The unit concludes with an arts and crafts project that showcases newly learned weather vocabulary.
Unit 2 - Plants
Students grow their own plants from mung beans, and are responsible for feeding their plants daily. Students record the progression of the plants’ growth by making drawings. In the process, students learn about the water cycle, plant anatomy, and what plants need to survive. Students make leaf etching and plant collages.
Unit 3 - Fruit and Vegetables
Students learn about fruit and vegetables and the differences between them. Students learn how to use sensory verbs with adjectives by tasting, smelling, and touching different fruit. Students count, chart, and graph the number of peas found in snow peas, and learn how to quantify nouns using English sentence structures. Students make flower mosaics made of seeds, and root prints using carrots and potatoes.
Unit 4 - Living Vs. Non-Living Matter
Students make an earthworm farm habitat by collecting non-living material. Students then place earthworms in their new homes. Students observe the earthworms and add compost to the soil weekly. Students conclude the unit by making Worm Farm posters that showcase newly learned vocabulary.
Unit 5 - Human Skeleton
Students learned the names of 14 bones in the human skeleton. Because many bone names are multi-syllabic, students practiced phonetic pronunciation and spelling. Students put a human skeleton together from a group of bones and labelled each bone. Students also crafted their own human skeletons.
Unit 6 - Astronomy
The Astronomy Unit is divided into two topics: planets and constellations. During the planets portion of the unit, students learn the names and characteristics of each planet, and are introduced to the concept of celestial motion. During the constellations portion of the course, students learn the names and formations of constellations, as well as stories associated with each constellation. Students create displays of constellations and planets to conclude the unit and the course.
Learning through Artwork
English lessons that tap into students' artistic creativity helps them build self-confidence, patience, motor skills, and attention to details.
Successful projects blend art with English and build on sentence patterns and learned vocabulary.

Science and English Integration
This six-month science course integrated science and English for young learners. It introcuced students to scientific observation, recording, and analysis through fun science experiments, while also giving students the opportunity to practice English sentence patterns and expand English vocabulary.
